Whale Song

Stoneware clay, oxides, glazes, driftwood base.

A pair of mounted humpback whales. I have been lucky enough to have seen whales twice in my life, as a child in New Zealand at Kaikoura in the South Island, and as an adult sightseeing in the States.

Each encounter with these majestic animals is nothing short of magical, you can’t see the whole creature at once so it was a pleasure to study and sculpt them in their full form.
