Memory Palace

Stoneware sculpture, underglaze, oxides, glaze, aged copper

A memory palace is a technique used to remember intricate details, items and circumstances. Its evocative name prompted me to sculpt a fleeting creature existing between subconsciousness and waking. It carries on its back the place of childhood dreams, nostalgia and recollections - perhaps sandcastles long claimed by the sea, Ogmore Castle when it was whole, cloud castles we saw in the sky.
