Stoneware clay, glazes, underglaze, cold finish
I indulged my inner child when I made this Baba Yaga hut. It brought back memories of when I discovered the myths and legends section in nonfiction at the library, aged 8 or 9. It really brought so many cultures to my awareness, fuelled my imagination, and ignited a wish to travel.
I loved stories of how Baba Yaga could be kind or cruel, travelling around on her mortar and pestle making mischief.
Stoneware sculptural hut in two pieces inspired by Slavic folklore, made to function as a luminary with a tealight inside if wished. Finished in stoneware glazes and cold finishes. Lift the hut from the base to place a tealight or battery powered light inside.
